I believe we are all products of our upbringing, family and social cultures and experiences. Sometimes, these may have had an unhelpful effect on how we see the world and how we relate to others and we may have learnt clever coping skills which are not serving us well in the present. If you feel bogged down by emotions such as worry, depression, sadness and struggle with relationships or even a sense that life is just not going the way you would like it, then counselling may be for you.
It is hard to make the first move and you may feel some stigma about needing to ask for help. Unlike physical ailments, emotional struggles remain unseen but cause as much if not more problems and yet, in the same way as a visit to a doctor or hospital can help alleviate physical problems, working through emotional problems with a Counsellor can be just as transformative.
I make no judgements, will not be burdened by your story and will allow you to feel truly 'heard'. I can also help you gain new insights and skills as well as helping you tap into your own strengths and resilience of which you may be unaware.
I work with Children from age 6, Young People, Adults and Couples on a one to one basis for short or long term requirements.
With Children I offer Therapeutic Play as this is their language and it allows them to explore their 'Big Feelings' in a non threatening way. Creative methods are also available to all ages as this can be more enlightening than just using the spoken word.
As there are many Counsellors out there and the relationship is key, I offer a free, no obligation initial meeting which will allow you to decide if I am the right Counsellor for you.
