My name is Ije, an integrative counselling therapist. I am also a musician, a muscle relation therapist, a boundaries & confidence enhancer, and an African dance wellness coach. I am very talented and creative, and this aids my counselling practices.

Life experiences brought me this far and I'm here because I did not give in. I couldn’t envision the kind of illness that would keep someone so down that they cannot carry out their day-to-day chores and so I began my journey as a counsellor. With my training, supervision, and counselling work with clients, I have a clearer understanding of individual issues from different perspectives.

My passion for helping and supporting people has been my unwavering drive to provide a hand-holding enabling space and a soft-landing bedrock for my clients going through life’s difficulties. I am professional in my approach, empathetic, a good listener, honest, respectful, and trustworthy, and can build good build rapport to aid collaboration between myself and my clients.

Aside from my counselling work, I am a mother, a housing professional, a mental health advocate, a young people’s coach and mentor, and an author. I love building boundaries and aiding confidence. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and can go the extra mile to ensure my clients feel heard.

Whatever you’re feeling right now, there is help and support available to you. We all go through difficulties in our lifetime and for some, this can feel more manageable when shared with another person. Experiencing problems may affect different aspects of your life and you might find yourself having difficulty sleeping, eating, or achieving what you want in your everyday life.

Asking for help takes courage and many people benefit from getting support from a professional. The Counselling I offer allows you to explore and work through unmanageable or difficult feelings in a safe, non-judgmental, and caring environment, helping you to identify which steps to take to overcome these challenges.
My approach is person-centred, and I provide a safe, nurturing, and empathic environment in which many issues can be processed. I have experience working with many different issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, panic disorders, relationship issues, abuse, phobias, addiction, bereavement, low self-esteem/confidence, family, and cultural issues amongst many others.

Within the Initial Assessment, I will explore with you what has brought you to counselling and will discuss how we might work together. The initial assessment also allows us to get a sense of each other and talk about how to achieve your desired goals. I may also suggest incorporating other approaches within the therapy such as dance therapy (a safe and effective way of expressing and processing traumatic event/s or experiences) muscle relaxation, or mindfulness practice to make the therapy more effective. It is important to note here that regardless of the therapeutic approach, a vast amount of research has shown that the relationship between the client and the therapist is the most effective tool of all.

For many years there has been a lot of misunderstanding and stigma around mental health & therapy, and even more so within Black & Ethnic Minority communities and I use my experiences and platforms to provide relevant information to the communities where I live and work.
I have qualifications in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice and
• Level 5 - Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice
• Level 4 - Diploma in Counselling Skills & Theory
• Level 3 - Certificate in Hypnotherapy & Counselling Practice - muscle relaxation therapist
• MHFA certificate - Mental Health First Aider

I am a member of
• National Counselling & Psychotherapist society(NCPS)
• National Hypnotherapy Society (NHS)
• Association Of Christian Counsellors (ACC)

I work in line with the NCS ethical framework and set principles, which help to ensure that therapy contracts and boundaries are maintained. Whatever it is you are dealing with, we can talk about it. My service is strictly confidential. This would mean that anything discussed in the therapy room stays in the room, except disclosure of harm to self and others has been made. That being said, every action will be discussed and agreed upon.
I provide a compassionate, yet down-to-earth approach to therapy, taking account of your unique history and experience. I am experienced, accredited, and live in East London. I offer telephone counselling, online therapy, or face-to-face work, and anyone feeling stuck can get help to move forward. I also offer faith-based counselling with a range of counselling approaches psychodynamics, Humanistic, existential, and CBT depending on your preference.
My Person-centred approach will give you, the opportunity to explore, express and thrive, without fear of being judged. You are the number one and everything you say matters most.
