Affordable Talk CIC
Affordable Talk Ltd was established in 2012, and in July 2020 we reformed as a Community Interest Company (not for profit). We are a community based counselling and wellbeing service, based in Cardiff Bay, and our goal is to make counselling, CBT and psychotherapy accessible to all. We recognise that attending counselling for the first time may be a difficult step because of possible feelings of stigma around mental health, being seen as weak or unable to cope, feeling that there is something wrong with you or just not knowing what to expect. At Affordable Talk we are here to dispel these concerns. We believe attending counselling is all about your well-being, self exploration and self development as well as learning new strategies and coping mechanisms to deal with difficult and complex events in your life. We offer online counselling with either our therapists in training, Newly Qualified therapists or Qualified therapists, and have rooms in Cardiff Bay and Swansea, and as such can provide a variety of fees ranging from £15 per session to £35 per session.

City and East London Bereavement Service (CELBS)
CELBS is a specialist bereavement counselling service for the residents of Tower Hamlets, the City and surrounding boroughs. CELBS has built up a tried and tested counselling and training infrastructure over nearly 40 years and is a specialist local provider of such support.
We are a small, self-funded charity that was founded in 1984 by Dr Colin Murray Parkes OBE, an internationally renowned expert in the field of bereavement and consultant psychiatrist at the Royal London Hospital.
We provide bereavement counselling for anyone aged 18 and over and offer specialist support for: couples who have lost a child; pre-bereavement counselling for those and their loved ones facing a terminal diagnosis; and early bereavement support for those in the very early stages of grief. Our counselling is delivered by a team of volunteer counsellors who are either qualified or in training and who have all been assessed to ensure they meet the high standards required to be a counsellor at CELBS. We also provide some additional sessions from paid counsellors to ensure CELBS is able to meet the needs of all clients referred.
We are committed to providing the highest standards of professional practice to our clients. Our fundraising model ensures that we are able to provide initial training for our volunteer counsellors (which complements their professional training and qualifications), CPD and clinical supervision. This means that we are confident of the quality of the service we provide. CELBS is a BACP accredited service (100262).
We are governed by a Board of four trustees.
CELBS receives no statutory funding, although many of our referrals come from the NHS and other statutory agencies. We rely solely on the grants, donations and funding generated from the counselling sessions. We offer a sliding scale of counselling fees ranging from £5 per session to £60 and where necessary, clients may access the service free of charge.

Counselling and Therapy Scotland CIC
Counselling and Therapy Scotland CIC provide specialised trauma counselling, support and psychoeducation for children, adults and families across Scotland regardless of their socio-economic status. We want to raise trauma awareness and empower people in Scotland to be able to combat the destructive power of trauma in their lives and the erosive effect it has on our communities.
At present there is no service exactly like it in Glasgow, which works with everyone, regardless of their background or their referral needs with fully qualified, dedicated trauma expertise. There has never been a greater demand for quick, effective, expert counselling services as we are amid a mental health epidemic. With a lack of services and staff and mounting waiting lists, charities and NHS services are unable to provide mental health support for many children and adults.
The idea for the CATS service is simple but hugely effective. Creating specialised, professional trauma services for individual adults, couples, families and children all interlinked within one organisation. Trauma often occurs in isolation, requiring interpersonal relationships to be rebuilt. CATS is a flexible, resilient service, adaptable to society's needs (e.g., able to operate during the pandemic). Each client’s therapy is based on their individual requirements, and they have a voice in their treatment plan. We have a solid established methodology based on strong therapeutic trusted practices, values and social aims. We use the funds from fully paying counselling clients to fund sessions for adults and children who could not afford or be able to access them . All our profits are reinvested in the business to expand Fb and providing counselling services ,
My motivation is starting Counselling & Therapy Scotland CIC was born out of many things. Having had trauma as a child I can relate to how damaging trauma can be in someone's life. It's not just an individual experience, it has huge effect on the community with intergenerational trauma a huge problem in Glasgow. These are the real lives being damaged behind the figures published every year and I want to do something to change that. I feel we have the experience, training and drive to give people the access to treatments that can assist them for substance long term change .

It can help to make sense of feelings, and provide encouragement to untangle confusions and uncertainties. The service is entirely confidential and can help to maintain a sense of 'being in control'". You can contact their counselling coordinator via the email address below.

The Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR)
The Association of Jewish Refugees provides social and welfare services to Holocaust refugees and survivors nationwide. About 70,000 refugees, including approximately 10,000 children on the Kindertransport, arrived in Great Britain from Nazi-occupied Europe in the 1930s. Founded in 1941 by Jewish refugees from Central Europe, the AJR today extends membership to anyone who fled a Nazi-occupied country as a Jewish refugee or who arrived in Great Britain as a Holocaust survivor. Relatives are also welcome as members including spouses, children (second-generation), grandchildren (third generation) and so on.
Our mission is to represent and care for Britain’s Jewish refugees and survivors of Nazi oppression and commemorate their experiences and contributions to society. To combat antisemitism by supporting teaching and learning about the Holocaust.
Our vision is a society free of antisemitism that remembers the Holocaust and those who were murdered, and that honours the Jewish refugees and survivors of Nazi oppression.
Our team of experienced social and care workers are dedicated to the daily needs of our members. As part of their nationwide programme of home visits, social care workers assess members’ needs and, where appropriate, eligibility for a number of financial support schemes, designed to enable members to continue to live with dignity, comfort and security in their own homes for as long as possible.
Volunteers are a vital resource to the AJR and help run a number of projects that greatly enhance the lives of our members while also gaining themselves from the many benefits that comes from volunteering. Individual befriending, supporting those with memory loss and teaching basic computer skills are just some of the ways that our volunteers work with us.
The AJR also operates a nationwide network of Regional Groups that offer our members a unique opportunity to socialise with friends of similar backgrounds. In addition to organising local meetings and outings, our outreach coordinators also arrange short holidays within the UK.
Alongside this holistic support, the AJR is also a leading benefactor of Holocaust education and remembrance projects and programmes working in partnership with the leading Holocaust educational organisations.
We also support Holocaust education and remembrance through our own resources such as our Refugee Voices and My Story archives and our interactive UK Holocaust Map.

The Good Grief Project
THE GOOD GRIEF PROJECT is the brainchild of bereaved parents Jane Harris and Jimmy Edmonds whose son Josh died in a road accident in Vietnam in 2011. Jane is a psychotherapist and Jimmy is a filmmaker.
Our mission is to support families grieving after the untimely death of a loved one, particularly the death of a child. And to promote an understanding of what it means to grieve in a society that often has difficulty talking openly about death, dying and bereavement. Our own response to Josh’s death has been to use both the still and the moving image to articulate our grief. Apart from producing a number of films and books, a key element of our work is the Active Grief Programme, a series of weekend retreats designed to help bereaved parents and siblings find new and creative ways of expressing their grief.

The Maypole Project
The Maypole Project:
Was founded by Sally Flatteau Taylor in 2003 from her learning through from 10 years experience of working in a developmental organisation focussed on loss and bereavement that there was a gap in support such as is described below.
The aim of The Maypole Project is to alleviate the intense emotional stresses and trauma for families from the diagnosis of a child (pre birth to 18) with a condition which may threaten or shorten life, may be acquired complexity or fragility through another incident/illness/accident or medical negligence. May be both rare and/or genetic as well as progressive. We support families where a child has died from such a diagnosis.
We support the whole family, and promise to be alongside them for their lifetimes in order that they can access our support as and when THEY need us.
Our support is one to one counselling, therapy, couples counselling, therapeutic family sessions, child counselling incorporating play, music, art, drama alongside counselling skills. Our working philosophy is to provide a service which is: inclusive, accessible, confidential, professional, flexible to individual needs, and available for the long term. We also train our staff to have an understanding of the issues their clients may well be facing; and to address these alongside listening and responding to the issues they are facing both in the present, from the past, and into the future.
Our ongoing service provision reflects the ongoing needs of the families we support; allowing them to return to the service as things get tough for them and this includes sadly through the death of a child and supporting them in that different bereavement beyond.
We have a small team of counsellors who are staff, and others who are “associates” to the project and either volunteer their time or are sessionally paid; all team members enter our training programme, and through this and working with clients, gain invaluable experience of loss, family dynamics, impact of illness on individuals and systems.
Our working area has historically been South East London; however we now reach out to areas across the UK through links with other charities and due to our reputation spreading further afield.
Alongside the therapies team we have an inclusive activities team; giving children time to be children, have fun, also express feelings, meet others/reduce their feelings of being alone and gaining peer support. These activities also give parents and carers a respite from their caring role.

The OLLIE Foundation
The OLLIE Foundation is a suicide prevention charity, set up in 2016 by three Hertfordshire parents who had each lost a son to suicide.
They met in bereavement support, and vowed to do all they could to stop another family going through the heartache they were experiencing.
OLLIE stands for One Life Lost Is Enough.
OLLIE provides wellbeing, prevention and intervention workshops, training, talks and panel events for professionals, parents and students. Our mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide, particularly amongst our young people. One way we do this is through the provision of training and education to parents, children, teens and young adults and to all those with a duty of care for others.
Through our work we aim to reduce both the stigma and the fears people have in talking about suicide. We aim to advance the pedagogy and discourse around suicide studies and effective early intervention and prevention techniques and strategies. Our work always aims to share best practice, supporting curiosity, skills, capacities and knowledge so each generation can stay safer from suicide and bereavement from suicide.
The development and delivery of OLLIE training programmes is based on a comprehensive foundation encompassing academic research, medical expertise, and invaluable lived experiences. We combine scholarly studies, clinical knowledge, and the invaluable first-hand experiences of those affected, to shape our approach.
This blend enriches our training, fostering a deep, empathetic understanding of mental health support, mindfulness and suicide prevention. Utilising this methodology, OLLIE can also craft bespoke trainings and talks for Educational settings, businesses, community groups and sports clubs, creating unique tailored programmes to meet your specific needs.
These can reinforce existing CSR & EAP policies or mark the beginning of a journey promoting mental well-being for all.

West Mercia Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre
West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse (WMRSASC) is a specialist sexual violence support service working with survivors of all forms of rape, sexual violence and abuse, exploitation and/or harassment across Herefordshire and Worcestershire and Shropshire in our city centre offices and in outreach premises.
Services include helpline, group work, advocacy and counselling services for women, men, and children from age 5 + along with their non-abusing family members.
Our preventative, trading, and training arm – Purple Leaf, provides both education within schools, colleges and community groups (aimed at 11–25-year-olds) and accredited training for professionals.
Our preventative work addresses problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours in children and young people. For those who have been both sexually harmed themselves and have harmed other children and young people, we have designed a range of individual interventions that challenge these harmful sexual behaviours. We also have a dedicated team to complete AIM 3 assessments (Assessment, Intervention and Moving on) for under and over 12s.
Purple Leaf also hosts a Clinical and/or Consultative Supervision service to provide support to individual professionals or organisations that are working with clients and/or staff who have experienced sexual violence or harassment. These sessions can be delivered individually or in a peer group setting.
