'Calm seas do not make skilful sailors.' The therapeutic process can help you to navigate through painful experiences, and to steady yourself during a time of crisis. Therapy is about gaining better self-understanding in order to facilitate change.
I work short and long term with both individuals and couples.
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of the counselling process. I am a warm and empathetic person who quickly establishes a rapport with others. I offer a safe place in which you can talk about yourself, and the things you find difficult in your life. It is an opportunity for you to talk openly and freely without being judged.
By training I am an integrative psychotherapist. My approach is flexible and adaptable, and recognises that people are complex and their lives complicated.
Couples counselling
Couples counselling allows for exploration of relationship difficulties and space to make decisions about how to move forward into the future. Whether you wish to repair or maintain your relationship, couples counselling is an opportunity to explore different ways of communicating with and being with each other. It is my role to facilitate that exploration. If you have already decided to separate, relationship counselling can help you to move through a difficult life change.
Confidentiality
It is in the nature of the counselling process that clients often disclose deeply personal details of their lives. To safeguard client confidentiality I do not add your name or other identifying details to my notes. In addition, I do not store sensitive client information on my computer.
