I am a qualified counsellor, having a diploma in Person centred counselling. I also have a Batchelor of Science degree in Psychology from Lincoln University.
In addition to running my own counselling practice I work within secondary schools providing confidential counselling to students and staff. I support people with a wide range of issues, including grief, loss, OCD, coping with disability, family difficulties, abuse and terminal illness.
I have regular Supervision and work with clients referred from GPs and other Health Professionals. I am committed to my ongoing personal and professional development, attending lectures and workshops to maintain and improve my skills.
Prior to working as a counsellor I worked for a local authority, working directly with families and young people. Through this work, I gained a deeper understanding of the variety of issues that people can face, and the impact that this can have when trying to deal with day to day life.
I also worked at therapeutic school for boys with social emotional and behavioural difficulties for five years. I worked with many experienced practitioners and therapy staff in finding new ways to support young people through immediate challenges, difficult experiences and events throughout their lives. This work also developed my experience in dealing with very challenging behaviour, a broad range of mental health, emotional and behavioural difficulties and the complications that these can bring.
