I am a therapist who helps people reflect on their life as a whole and identify the areas causing them difficulties. My goal is to help you work towards what feels truly meaningful to you. I am trained in different approaches but focus on helping you explore your own experiences, without assuming what your life 'should' or 'should not' look like.
I believe that everyone is unique and that we all need different things at different times. Because of this, I work together with my clients to find what feels most helpful to focus on in therapy. I am flexible in how we work and will co-create a plan that fits your specific needs.
My approach is influenced by ideas from existential therapy. This means that I can help you explore big questions about life, such as meaning, purpose, freedom, and how to live with uncertainty or change. By exploring these ideas, we can find ways to live a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.
If you are looking for a therapist to give you techniques or exercises, I might not be the best fit for you. Instead, I aim to support you in engaging with your life, accepting what cannot be changed, and embracing the possibilities for change.
I usually work with clients over the long term (20 sessions or more), but we can decide together what feels right for you.
I mostly work with adults but also provide counselling for those aged 16 and older (with parental or guardian consent if under 18). Whilst I am unable to work with children, I am happy to signpost, so feel free to reach out and I'll do my best to help.
As a therapist, I help people reflect on their life as a whole, weighing up their experiences, and identify areas that are stuck or causing difficulties. My ultimate goal is to help you work towards something personally meaningful which means that for each person I work with, the therapy will take a slightly different shape. I believe that every person is unique and needs different things at different times. So, I collaborate with my clients to find the most helpful areas to focus on during therapy.
I have a particular interest in existential ways of working, which for me, recognises that we're all doing our best to navigate an existence that can be everything from euphoric to terrifying. I believe that in order to live an authentic life, we need to accept the things that we have no control over and embrace those moments when we can make choices, exploring possibilities and taking responsibility for our own lives.
I'm not a prescriptive therapist, so if you're looking for someone who will give you techniques, and exercises, I might not be the best fit for you. Instead, I aim to support you in engaging with your life as honestly as possible and working toward something personally meaningful.
Because of my reflective and broadly focused style, I usually work with clients over the long-term (20 sessions or more). However, we can decide together what the best way forward is and there is no need to commit to any particular length of time.
Straight Ally: As a straight, cisgender therapist, I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all clients. I recognise the oppression faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and provide affirming therapy. I believe that it is my responsibility to continue to challenge myself, learn and grow. I strongly oppose any form of conversion therapy.
Neurodiversity Affirming: As a neurodivergent therapist (AuDHD), I am committed to providing a supportive and inclusive space that respects and values all ways of thinking, sensing and processing. I embrace the neurodiversity paradigm and celebrate all neurotypes, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other cognitive styles.
