Choosing a counsellor can be daunting as there are so many factors to consider. You will be sharing personal problems which you may not have told anyone else. This makes the professional counselling client relationship very important. My aim as a counsellor is to make you feel comfortable and safe enough to explore the issues that are troubling you in ways that allows you to be as open and honest as possible.
I offer potential clients a 20-minute free consultation where we can find out what it feels like to talk together. Here you will be able to decide if we are a good match. My approach at all times is to listen and understand your concern from your perspective. As an integrative counsellor, I can draw on a range of counselling approaches that can help you understand your concerns in different ways, allowing you to find the best way forward for you.
I work within a personal empowerment framework. This means sharing insight, knowledge and sharing power. In addition to this, issues of culture, race, racism, gender, disability, and identity can be explored if you feel that they are a significant factor in relation to your concerns. I believe that everyone has the potential for positive growth when given a nurturing and supportive environment.
I have 20 years of experience as a social worker, this allows me to not only understand the emotional turmoil that a client can experience but also the practical issues such as housing, debt, childcare, redundancy and immigration that can be relevant in understanding your problem.
I have helped clients address anxiety issues, bereavement, careers, stress, relationship problems, domestic abuse, low self-esteem, addiction, and depression.
Please feel free to call me to book a free 20 mins initial consultation.
