I have worked as a qualified counsellor since 2004, becoming accredited in 2007.
I have also worked as a supervisor since 2008 and became a senior accredited practitioner in 2013.
Since 2004 I have worked in the field of loss and bereavement. This work often includes working with clients who are experiencing complex issues around loss - possibly due to the nature of the death, which might have been traumatic, - or due to their own mental and emotional state. Bereavement is often a life-changing experience and it can be helpful to spend time coming to terms with the loss and finding a meaning that helps you move forward.
I spent some years working as a counsellor with young people with a variety of special needs, including those on the autistic spectrum, or with attachment issues, learning difficulties, or challenging behaviour.
The emotional areas I have most experience of working with are anxiety, depression, anger, suicidal thoughts and feelings, attachment issues, self-worth and loss.
I often use an approach that looks for a way to develop helpful personal resources and the integration of difficult experiences into the bigger picture of your life.
