I am a humanistic therapist with a background in mental health.
I am interested in working with people short term or longer term, with any life issues, including relationship issues, trauma or abuse, anxiety or depression, and bereavement.
My approach is quite mixed as I draw on many areas of training and learning, but in essence I believe people have a healing tendency within them as well as inner wisdom, but these are things we commonly lose our connection with at times.
In my work with trauma and abuse, anxiety and depression I also draw on knowledge from neuroscience to help form a way of understanding certain problem.
I use a number of approaches which build on basic mindfulness techniques but take them further into body awareness and helping emotions come out and heal. These include Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Focusing.
Lastly I see people as connected to the wider world and some approaches I use are focussed on our connection with meaning, culture and stories, as well as family culture and wider culture.
I work in a very open way in that I am happy to explain how I work and talk about options for the therapy, involving you in thinking about your needs and feeling free to be honest about what is helping you and what direction you believe you need to go in.
