I am a person-centred counsellor and believe that all of us have the internal resources we need for growth and my aim is to provide the right environment to help this growth to occur. Through examination of the past, the causes of present day problems are often revealed, allowing us to relate differently to ourselves, our difficulties and to others, and either make changes or find acceptance.
I am a registered NCS Accredited Counsellor with a social work background and over 15 years’ experience working in both public and private sector, supporting individuals across a variety of backgrounds. I work with a wide range of issues including: relationship difficulties, parenting issues, attachment, anxiety and depression, work problems, loss or bereavement, trauma and many others.
Models influencing my approach include Humanistic Therapies, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) mindfulness. I take a flexible approach to therapy, integrating various models to suit each individual.
I offer both short-term work (typically 6 – 10 sessions), to focus on specific areas, or longer-term therapy which allows for a deeper exploration and understanding.
In addition, I actively participate in the training and actively participate in regular supervision.
What happens at our first session?
Our first session will be between 60 minutes.
This is an opportunity for us to meet and to mutually decide whether therapy could be helpful for you and whether we feel we could work together. I will ask you some general questions about what brings you to therapy and perhaps some of your past history. It will also be an opportunity for you to say whatever you feel might be helpful for me to know or to ask any questions. By the end of the session, we will agree how to proceed. If we decide to commence further sessions, these will usually be on a weekly basis. You may need a week or so to go away and think about whether you would like further sessions. Or occasionally, we may decide that therapy is either not appropriate for you or perhaps just not the right time, in which case we can think about other types of support might be helpful before we end our first session.
Therapy sessions
All subsequent sessions are 50 minutes in length. Once we have agreed a day and a time for your sessions, these will normally continue on the same day and time until you finish therapy.
How do I arrange an appointment?
Please email or telephone using the contacts provided here. Your confidentiality is assured and all emails or voice messages will only be accessed by me. I will then contact you for an initial (free) telephone consultation to discuss your needs and then if appropriate, make an initial appointment for us to meet.
POLSKI PSYCHOTERAPEUTA
że to klient decyduje, nad czym chce pracować i to on/ona nadaje tempo pracy terapeutycznej.
