I am a BACP accredited counsellor and my way of working is integrated-relational. This means I draw on a number of different therapeutic perspectives such as psychodynamic, humanistic and existentialist theories which includes family systems theory. However, I believe the overall importance is the relationship between the client and the counsellor. Establishing trust and safety is paramount, in a confidential setting which enables clients to feel heard and understood, without someone passing judgement and validating their difficulties that are being experienced.
My aim as a therapist is to give you an experience of being supported and guided no matter what your struggle may be from relationship problems, work, anger, bereavement, divorce, addiction, co-dependency, illness, depression, anxiety or unhappiness. I can help you understand your unique situation so that you can make clear and solid choices that work for you. I help support my clients to identify their current struggles and how they view the world within those struggles in order to find deeper meaning and purpose.
I'm aware how difficult it can be to reach out for support and equally a daunting prospect on choosing the right therapist for you. With this in mind, I offer a free 30 minute initial assessment for individual clients, where we get an opportunity to meet, discuss what your needs and expectations are from the counselling process and it also enables me to get a brief personal history. This assessment gives us both a chance to mutually decide if we could successfully work together. Also we would explore key goals and practicalities such as time of sessions, length (short or long term) and fees. I do offer a limited number of concessions for people with financial hardship.
I am passionate about my continuous professional development and actively seek on-going training and personal therapy. Also in accordance with the BACP (British Association for Councellor's and Psychotherapists) ethical framework, I am bound to receiving regular clinical supervision. This enables me to discuss particular client aspects with a highly experienced counsellor, maintaining client anonymity at all times.
Couples Therapy
Couples come for therapy when one or both partners are expressing distress or dissatisfaction in the relationship. The content of this distress can be anything from feeling a lack of intimacy, emotional closeness or physical desire to issues involving communication, affairs, the possibility of separation or divorce, parenting issues or lack of meaning and connection. My approach to working with couples invites both partners to express themselves authentically and identify their needs. We will work together to develop ways of communication that helps resolve conflict and bring awareness and closeness to the couples relationship.
If you want a book an appointment in order to meet and discuss how therapy can benefit you, sessions are for either 60 minutes for £90 / 90 Minutes for £125.
