Hi. I’m Angela (she/her). I am a qualified, accredited and trauma informed counsellor based in Carlisle, Cumbria. I have 11 years of counselling experience and an additional 20 years of experience supporting people of all ages in a variety of settings. This has included working in schools, nurseries, residential units, local counselling charities and for Cumbria County Council. I am gender, sexuality and relationship diversity affirmative and kink knowledgeable.
I have completed training to Intermediate Level 1 in Somatic Experiencing and I am Internal Family Systems Informed.
I provide long and short term therapy for adults and young people aged 13 and over. Sessions usually last 50 minutes, are one to one and can be arranged at a frequency that works for you.
The session content will be tailored around your specific requirements and we will work at your pace. I offer online sessions via email, instant messenger, voice and video calls in addition to face to face sessions.
My approach to therapy is integrative. This means that I draw from a variety of different therapy approaches. I believe that the therapeutic relationship can be a catalyst for great change.
People can start to feel better when their stories are heard and their feelings validated. However, it is not a necessary requirement that you revisit traumatic and distressing events as part of your therapy.
I will not judge, advise or tell you what to do and I respect that you are the expert in your life.
Over the course of my career as a counsellor I have provided several thousand hours of therapy to adults and teenagers experiencing a wide range of challenges. Some of the areas in which I have extensive experience are:-
