In early 2010 I attended the British Association of Anger Management’s anger management programme led by Mike Fisher and subsequently went on to train as an accredited facilitator of anger management programmes with Mike completing my training in November 2010. I then trained in counselling skills through Life-Force, Colchester gaining my Certificate in Counselling Skills in December 2011, and then studied working with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in 2012. In Early 2017 I attended Pink therapy’s Essentials in Gender and Sexual Diversity Therapy Training, and at the start of this year I attended two days training in Gender, Relationship and and Sexual Diversity Therapy run by Outreach, Cumbria. I have recently completed my Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
Through my experiences of facilitating my anger management programme, I adopt an integrative approach to my counselling work. This is underpinned by a person centered, humanistic position where I am able to shift to other styles depending on your needs. I have found that my own practice is informed through my continued self-development, my work with my clients and my research and learning. This has led me to know that two key elements in counselling are the continual development and deepening of the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client within a safe and secure environment, and my ability as a therapist to accept and value the individuality and importance of your experiences so that I can fully support your unique journey of self-learning and personal development.
I have a current, clean enhanced DBS certificate, and have full indemnity insurance in place for both my counselling and anger management work, and work under National Counselling Society Code of Ethics.
I have recently moved to Dalton-In-Furness having lived in Essex for the past 20 years. I am 59, divorced twice, and have three children, two of whom are grown up.
