For many years I have been a great listener and have now converted this skill to being a psychotherapeutic counsellor. I find a great deal of satisfaction in listening to people and helping them to unpick their own problems using a variety of different methodologies in an attempt to suit both the client and the situation. I recognise that often it is very hard for a client to work through their issues and can very much empathise with this so working at a client's pace is very important to me. This means my clients can do the work they are prepared to do at that time but in their own time.
Working in healthcare for many years I have come across a vast array of situations which stands me in good stead for my counselling work.
As a working Mum with a career prior to counselling I have an good understanding of the challenges of family life as well as having insight into the challenges of being single or living alone through friends and colleagues.
I have worked in a secondary school for a period providing a counselling as part of a larger scheme which, combined with experience working with young people in other settings has given me skills and understanding of some of the issues facing young people in today's society
