Well done for taking the first step in what can feel like a daunting process – looking for the services of a good counsellor. And to encourage you beyond that first step, my aim is to help you solve your issues successfully in a safe, confidential and empathic space.
Here’s how it works:
• Initial appointment to discuss the issues and check that we want to work together
• Weekly sessions, thereafter, generally work best, but its negotiable
• The Number of sessions is entirely up to you – you are the expert on you
(but I can tell you what I think, if you like)
• Counselling works for almost everybody
• You are welcome back anytime, should you feel the need for more counseling at a later date – the door is open
My field of expertise
With over 15 years experience in this vocation, I have worked within the NHS, in an employee assistance organization, for a number of charities and in my private practice. Some recent issue successes include:
Stress/’burnout’
Depression/anxiety
Relationship issues
Anger/fear
Past issues re-appearing
Mild psychosis
Disassocation
Grief/loss
Fixations/phobias
I am a well-qualified, skilled and experienced counsellor. I am also a clinical supervisor to colleagues in counselling. Since 2001, I have worked in a range of counselling settings including the NHS and charities.
I am passionate about counselling and my reward is to see my clients feeling better after working with me. My job is to help clients find solutions and make the changes they want, as a result of our talking therapy. And the vast majority do just that.
A warm, enthusiastic person with a grown up daughter, I was raised in Edinburgh. I have lived in the USA, France and Norway as well as the UK, which gives me some insight into different cultures and environments – all very useful in identifying and solving different clients’ needs and problems. I have counselled in the UK and in Norway – a useful experience of two different countries, cultures and languages. In addition, my varied life experience is a valuable asset in understanding and empathizing with clients of all backgrounds and ages (to date my oldest client was 92 and my youngest was 12, for example).
