I am an experienced counsellor and clinical supervisor working in private practice and in the NHS.
I previously worked for Mind with individuals who were referred via their GP or through their employer.
My approach is to listen first to ensure the person has been heard and then when the person is ready I use questions to collaborate and work towards resolutions, hope and possibilities. This approach is naturally tailored (and integrated) to be most helpful for that individual.
I have experience of working with a varied amount of concerns, mostly with individuals who have been referred by their GP and dealing with a range of issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship problems, stress, work related issues, ideas of suicide, difficult life transitions, and more.
I was trained at the Family Institute, University of South Wales and their systemic approach has informed my practice, and I integrate this with a humanistic approach. Due to my systemic training I also work with couples.
I also completed a PG Dip in Consultative Supervision and work in private practice as a supervisor, and senior supervisor in the NHS.
I have been trained as a Mindfulness MBCT teacher, and co-facilitate the 8 week MBCT courses at NHS and the training was with Bangor University.
I am also trained in EFT level 2, IPT for depression, T.A.101 (Transactional Analysis) and more. I have been trained in ASIST (suicide prevention) and have trained ASIST to others.
As an accredited professional member of NCPS and member of BACP I work to their ethical & professional standards.
I keep up with regular supervision, Continual Professional Development and safeguarding training.
