I offer a warm, non judgemental, respectful, supportive space where you can feel heard and accepted, no matter what is going on for you and what brings you. As a Psychotherapeutic therapist I recognise that people are diverse and complex. I tailor my approach using a variety of techniques and theories to suit each individual and their unique situation in order to meet the individual needs of each client. Research evidence suggests that it is primarily the relationship formed between therapist and client that has the most positive influence on whether having therapy is successful. I place a strong emphasis on building a trusting, therapeutic relationship with you in order to have a firm foundation for the work we do together. I offer short term and open ended counselling to support my clients to gain understanding to facilitate the changes they want in their lives.
My role is to help you explore and make sense of the challenges you face. This may involve working with difficult emotions and identifying and addressing unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns that may now be adding to feelings of unhappiness. We can work together to fine tune existing coping strategies, learn new healthier ones, accept things that you can't change and address issues of self-esteem and self-confidence.
I am a Qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and an Accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. I am guided by their ethical frameworks and procedures.
