As a humanistic therapist and EMDR practitioner, I'm passionate about co-creating a therapeutic relationship to facilitate change or increased understanding for clients. I've experience of working with depression, anxiety, insomnia, trauma, substance use, relationships, parenting & loss in addition to many other life events.
I work from a humanistic modality, which means that I believe in the human propensity to work towards growth when a facilitative environment is created. In this case, the facilitating environment is our working relationship. It's through our co-created relationship that I'll begin to understand your frame of reference and we’ll work through whichever emotion or awareness you bring to the room. Be it from the past, present or future.
I work creatively and I’m interested in the stories we tell of ourselves. Often, I may use imagery, metaphor, dreams and interventions so we can explore your sense of Self through a holistic lens. Ultimately, I believe in the transformative power of connection.
In addition to psychotherapy, I also offer EMDR therapy which is an 8 step protocol endorsed by the WHO and NICE, and used within the NHS. EMDR is a way of lessening the emotional potency of traumas, addressing PTSD, phobias and anxiety. You can find out more information about EMDR via my website or from the NHS webpages.
Part of therapy is an increase in self-awareness, becoming more aware of our reactions to situations or people, identifying the connected emotions and understanding them. I see our work as collaborative and sometimes I may suggest a book to read, an interesting journal or other tools that might guide you to a greater sense of Self.
