The meanest voice you're sadly most likely to hear is the one in your own head talking to yourself! Now imagine talking to someone who is 100% on your side - genuine support and empathy, with no unwanted opinions and most importantly, no judgement either!
Life is challenging… and our emotions are complex. Feeling low, anxious or depressed, experiencing disordered eating or self-harming, loss, grief, bereavement or relationship difficulties (perhaps at work or at home)?
Talking to somebody who isn’t going to be shocked and who will encourage you to speak openly, honestly and without filtering what you say? Well it might feel a bit strange at first. Gradually though, it will start to feel refreshing and leave you feeling a bit lighter, more hopeful and relieved that you decided to unburden yourself with somebody you feel safe with and know you can trust. Counselling can be a space to explore more about what makes YOU tick and make sense of things in a way which helps you understand that you’re human. We’re all different as we’ve all had different experiences, so counselling can help us better come to terms with how we all experience the world from our own unique perspective and “join the dots” either in the present, your past or perhaps with what you want from your future.
Some of the benefits of exploring your feelings might be:-
Reduced stress and anxiety
Increased resilience and confidence
Improved sleep
Better decision making
Feeling more comfortable about it being ok that your needs get met
Managing social or work situations better
Greater intimacy and fewer arguments in your relationships
Improved libido
Making peace with your past
Feeling more hopeful about your future
