Amiable, affable, friendly, empathetic, a listener who doesn’t just listen but someone who understands and uses that understanding to lead you to a better, happier place. These have been some of the qualities attributed to me. My name is Jacqueline Castle and I bring many of my life’s experiences to my work as a counsellor and psychotherapist.
I have enjoyed married life for many years and brought up a family – two grown up children and grandchildren. My business background is over 45 years – 23 years running a lawn turf business, then my own party plan and beauty salon for sixteen years. Within this time, I became a teacher in Beauty Therapy and, whilst working, heard many people’s stories (some quite troubling) so I decided to train to become a counsellor.
I trained at RCA in 1999, then went on to complete a further advanced Diploma at the Grove in Southampton and finished this off at Exeter University in 2006, gaining an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I have also trained in many organisations with sexual-related issues (I have worked with victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence for over 30 years) and continue to do this with training every year.
I have had five years experience with an organisation in Dorset and worked closely with a drug and alcoholic client base, working within groups, drop-ins and on a one-to-one basis. I have set up groups to help others who may have been affected by drug or alcoholic addictions, and also carried out some group work within a domestic violence client base at a local organisation.
I am currently involved with Juliet Grayson in couples’ relationships.
At this point a rest was needed and I went into working with young adults from the age of 14-24 within schools, drop-ins and anger management and then as a support worker. I felt it was right at this stage for me to incorporate all my skills and set up my own practice that I run from home. I work to the UK Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners principles and guidelines within my ethical framework. The governing body that I belong to for standards and codes of practice is the National Counselling Society.
