I work using evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and person-centred counselling strategies to help individuals overcome some of their biggest struggles. We will work to uproot, examine and challenge unhealthy belief systems that are often driving forces of emotional disturbance. I place an emphasis on psychological flexibility and mindfulness skills; helping to develop a flexible, accepting and compassionate awareness of our present-moment experience, which can aid in breaking free from the grip of old, life-limiting and destructive patterns of thought, emotion and behaviour and work towards building patterns of healthy, life-enriching behaviour, connected to what is truly important to you and gives life a sense of meaning and purpose.
I have experience working with anxiety and anxiety-based disorders including obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), social phobia and panic disorder, depression, anger management, other emotional issues such as guilt and shame, relationship and communication issues, addiction problems and issues of impulsive, destructive and self-sabotaging behaviour, problems relating to self-worth and self-image and adjusting to challenging life situations, such as loss of employment, relationship break ups and traumatic life experiences. In addition to private counselling, I have several years experience in addiction counselling and facilitating relapse prevention and SMART recovery groups in a residential rehabilitation setting.
Please email me and we can arrange a free telephone conversation at a mutually convenient time, to discuss how I can be of help to you.
