My name is Jack Kirton and I am an accredited counsellor, psychotherapist, mentor and performance coach for men. My core discipline is in counselling and psychotherapy and I am Level 5 advanced diploma qualified, with distinction.
Trained primarily in person-centred theory and also qualified in cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused coaching and emotional regulation methods, I have over 4500 hours of supervised clinical practice over 5 years and 10 years of prior experience working with young people to develop sound mental health, academic performance, and social development.
With experience in multiple face-to-face settings and offering remote counselling via online video, telephone, and live text chat sessions, I work from a dedicated private office space and welcome any questions before your initial assessment.
My approach is results-focused and consists firstly of supporting you to find your own answers to the issues you want to address as efficiently as possible. I will share my own perspective and discuss practical tools and strategies when relevant and necessary, this is secondary however to being given the space to be heard, understood, and held accountable to put into action what you already know you should be doing.
My method may vary to suit your needs however I generally advocate the behavioural approach which emphasises taking action with the knowledge that changes in thinking and emotion follow.
Facing the often cold harsh truth of reality can be challenging, especially in a world where we are routinely lied to by individuals and organisations who claim to have our best interests in mind. Sometimes the best way to gain some clarity is to speak with someone with no existing investment or tie to you and your life.
My main priority ultimately is to help you move closer to your own vision for who you want to be and what you want to do and have, according to your own definition and across all levels relevant to you: physically, cognitively, emotionally, socially, sexually, and in matters of faith and belief (or lack of), whilst acknowledging the inherent limitations of life.
Presently working with adult male clients only, I specialise in male psychology and men's issues, intersexual dynamics and relationship issues however have worked with a very broad range of challenges with people from many varied walks of life, backgrounds, and cultures, and offer an approach that in the majority of cases will help you regardless of the specific problem.
Being male involves evolutionarily functional but nevertheless complicating factors that commonly hinder or can completely invalidate professional support as a perceived option to address performance and mental health challenges and opportunities. Some amount of internal conflict about accessing professional services is normal.
Thanks for reading my profile, if you think I might suit your needs send me a message and if I am not a good match I wish you the very best of luck in tackling the challenges you are taking action to address.
