You will find me to be a down to earth, empathetic, and caring individual who is willing to walk with you on your journey of self-awareness, introspection, healing, and emotional growth.
I have experience with, and enjoy, working with a wide variety of people including diversity in age, economic status, culture, and ethnicity. I enjoy making connections with people and exploring ways to go deeper emotionally to look at the root of an issue. I believe it is important to do this emotional work with sensitivity but also with a sense of humour.
My therapeutic approaches include: Humanistic, Existential, Gestalt Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I work in a holistic way, taking into account all your physical, emotional, social, environmental and spiritual issues and how they affect your life and mental health. I always work collaboratively with you, together exploring options so that you can make the right choices for your life based on your needs, values, and priorities.
I believe that every human being is unique, and deserves compassion and empathy. I use an integrated approach, which means that I assess your individual needs and work with the right approaches for you; I do not impose my approach or beliefs on you.
I studied and trained in the United States. I have a masters degree in mental health counseling which includes 600 hours of clinical work while in graduate school, and 3500 hours working after graduation under direct, weekly supervision. I graduated in 2012 and have been practicing ever since. I complete a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education each year, in topics such as ethics, telehealth counseling, depression, anxiety, helping with suicidal thoughts, CBT techniques, ADHD, nutrition and mental health, LGBTQ+, etc.
