I am an integrative humanistic counsellor and use a variety of different therapeutic approaches to best suit the person I am working with. Life can throw many unexpected challenges that may trigger a deep emotional reaction. The humanistic approach helps with a deeper understanding of that reaction by exploring who you are and what you feel, enabling a deeper self-awareness and growth to help affect positive change. The relational connection between myself and client, known as the therapeutic alliance, is vital to help establish and maintain a deep sense of trust and mutual understanding from which I can support you with your journey. I provide a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I believe that you are the expert in your own life and my role is to help facilitate the process of positive change by enabling you to look at your issues and help you make sense of what you are experiencing emotionally to help affect that change. I work under the core conditions of unconditional positive regard, empathy and active listening which means that I truly listen to what you are saying to me. I look to make links with your whole life experience rather than focusing purely on one particular issue.
