I am a passionate and accredited integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, boasting 21 years of counselling experience alongside 15 years as a Clinical Supervisor. My professional journey has encompassed various roles within the NHS and third sector organizations, with a specialization in eating disorders and addictions. Through remote platforms such as Skype, I have effectively assisted individuals dealing with conditions ranging from mild to moderate bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorders, and severe obesity.
My profile is marked by a breadth of expertise in supporting individuals of diverse age groups, addressing a wide spectrum of concerns. These include depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, grief and loss, phobias, and anger management. My approach is multifaceted, utilizing a fusion of techniques that encompass anxiety management, relaxation strategies, motivational interventions, and guidance for weight loss and smoking cessation.
In addition to my current roles, I am also dedicated to shedding light on the psychological impact of unpaid carers and the cared-for, drawing from personal experience. This endeavour aligns with my commitment to understanding and addressing the complex dynamics that affect individuals in caring roles.
Presently, I take on the role of supervising generic counsellors and therapists in palliative care and bereavement, an endaevour I have pursued after a commendable 9-year tenure as the Head of Family Support at a local hospice. In my recent pursuit of updated training, I successfully completed an accredited psychological therapy diploma in January 2021 through the Association of Psychological Therapies. This comprehensive program covered a range of therapeutic methodologies, including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), SFT (Solution-Focused Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and Motivational Interviewing—widely regarded as the top five therapeutic approaches in the field.
