Hello. Are you looking for someone to talk to? Someone who 'hears' you? Someone to help you work through a problem?

People come to counselling for a variety of reasons. You may be feeling stuck, lost or not yourself. Talking your problem out with a qualified professional can help, but how do you know which therapist is the right therapist for you?

My name is Julie. I am originally from the United States. I have a BSc in Psychology and a Masters degree from the US and a level 4 diploma in integrative counselling in the UK. I have over 25 years of experience working in mental health. I have worked with children, families and adults in both the US and UK. My extensive work with children has allowed me to see and better understand the impact childhood experiences can have upon adults and their relationships.

I offer a free 15 minute chat to see if we are a good fit to work together. I can offer you a safe, non-judgmental space for you to speak about your problems openly and honestly. I have extensive experience working with clients to uncover hidden thoughts, feelings and emotions that often link to experiences from their past, whether from childhood or a more recent event. This could be something you wish to explore further, or not. It's your choice. Exploring past experiences can be difficult and emotional; but it can also bring insight as to how and why you think and feel the way you do, impacts upon your relationships, and help you to make decisions about how you wish to move forward.

I am an integrative therapist, which means I use different skills and techniques to work with whatever you bring to the sessions. However, at my core I am psychodynamic and solution focused. I tend to work very deeply, very quickly but safely and at a pace that is comfortable for you.

I can help clients who have experienced trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, loneliness, life choices and relationship issues. I have worked in schools, prisons, local authorities, a university, within the NHS, with covid frontline workers during the pandemic and with hoarders in a housing association. I also have experience conducting psychological assessments for an insurance company.

At this time, I am only offering sessions online. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I aim to respond within 24 hours.
