I have completed extensive counselling training including a Master's Degree in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. At times, I find it helpful to focus on the psychodynamic school of thought, that is the unconscious and what has happened in the past that is impacting us now. At other times, my work is underpinned by other counselling schools of thought that focus purely on the here-and-now or centre on modifying behavioural patterns. By drawing upon multiple theoretical frameworks, a breadth of professional practice experience and many years working in the mental health sector, I have found that I have been able to support many clients with varying issues through challenging periods in their lives.

I tend to work with adults or teens but have also supported the elderly. Clients usually attend a weekly 50-minute a week session (more if required) and I prefer to see clients face-to-face although do offer online work too.

There are many reasons that people engage with therapy but I have found that often loss, anxiety, guilt, depression, peer pressure, relationship challenges and feeling overwhelmed/lost are familiar threads. By exploring these feelings and getting to the root of them, clients can often gain new insight which is beneficial.

I offer a calm, intelligent, gentle, empathic, safe space to support clients with difficult emotions and feelings such as the aforementioned. Sometimes these challenging feelings emerge as a result of a recent event/specific period in our lives. At other times, it is unclear initially why these feelings are felt and are perhaps the result of some unresolved issue from the past.

I believe that purposeful therapy is only possible if a connection and then trust can be formed in the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. With that in mind, I do hope you'll drop me an email and we can then book a telephone call to chat things through initially to see if we both feel we could work well together.

I am fully insured. I have an enhanced DBS check. I abide by the ethical codes sent out by the BACP. I attend regular supervision.
