Offering Face2Face/ Online and Phone in my own Private Practice.
I offer a non-judgmental, safe and supportive space, where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
My approach is collaborative; meaning we can work as a team , helping you to identify your goals for therapy and develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs.
My role is to help you identify any patterns of thinking, behaving, feeling, and/or ways of relating to yourself or others that may have originated from your past experiences that may be unconsciously or consciously affecting your current life.
Once we have identified the challenges that are holding you back, we can begin to process them using specific techniques tailored to your needs.
Trauma, Anxiety and Depression cause us different symptoms depending on our personal experiences and our own unique biology/ physiology:
Fight: be defensive, argumentative
Flight: run away: avoidance, quitting quickly due to stress response
Freezing: not being able to speak out or move your body
Fawn: People pleasing/ staying in abuse cycles we cannot find our ways out from due to patterns of our past.
Flop: immobilising/ panic attacks/ feeling faint or fainting
Trauma, Depression and Anxiety is physical as well as
mentally/ emotionally based.
The parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems are two branches of our autonomic nervous system, which regulates the body's unconscious functions, such as muscles, heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion.
These two systems act in opposition to each other like a seesaw.
The sympathetic nervous system prepares our bodies for action in response to stress or danger - the Fight/ Flight/ Freeze - flooding the body with Adrenaline and Cortisol preparing us to take action. This is our animal survival mode!
The Parasympathetic Nervous System in contrast promotes the state of relaxation, rest and repair in the body - sending out healthy levels of Serotonin, Dopamine, Gabba and Oxytocin around the body.
Due to high levels of Cortisol and Adrenaline when we are in our Sympathetic Nervous System aka the Fight/ Flight/ Freeze, we can suffer from differing symptoms mentioned below:
Becoming hyper-vigalent i.e looking out for danger/ catastrophising, having tense muscles, lack of appetite/ overeating/ feeling sick/ heart beating fast/ sweating/ dissociation- feeling like you are observing yourself/ feeling like you are in movie, fibromyalgia or body pains, tiredness/ fatigue, feel very wired, sleep problems, be very emotionally dysregulated or in contrast be very emotionally detached, avoidant, trying to constantly distracting oneself or in contrast oversleep and not be able to function in one’s life through burnout.
EMDR, NLP Rewind, EFT, CBT, TA and Mindfulness, all cater to neutralise the effects of Trauma, Depression and Anxiety in the body and mind helping you to enter your Parasympathetic Nervous System aka rest/ digest and repair. I can also recommend other strategies that can help you stay relaxed in your life regardless to what up and downs may arise.
Ultimately, my aim is to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and develop or learn any skills and tools needed, to make positive changes that you can then use for the rest of your life. I am highly passionate in my role and dedicated in helping my clients in any way I can.
