Hello and a warm welcome to my profile. Is life hard to manage at the moment? Are you struggling with anxiety? Are you always overthinking and worrying? I realise that reaching out for help takes courage, choosing the right Counsellor is important. I have been described as having a warm and compassionate approach. When I work with you I can share some useful coping strategies, and by using compassionate curiosity, and always working at your pace, we can gently explore the root of your issues.

About me and my practice:
I specialise in working with people who are struggling with anxiety. This includes all the different aspects of the condition including: constant negative thoughts, overthinking, catastrophising, feeling panicky, worrying all the time, poor sleep, feelings of helplessness and despair.

I have extensive experience counselling people who have a diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD. I used to work for the National Autistic Society's ASSIST Project, where I coached autistic adults online.

My approach is integrative, which means that when I work with you, I will use tools from different counselling theories to help you in a way that's tailored to you. I use strategies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as other therapies.

I adapt the way I work to meet the individual needs of my clients. Some clients find CBT strategies helpful, while others wish to go a little deeper and explore where their anxiety stems from. In these cases, I find work around self-compassion and healing the Inner Child very powerful.

Issues I also work with include:
- Depression - low mood, sadness, feelings of loneliness,
isolation
- Relationship and family challenges and breakdowns
- Low confidence and self esteem
- Bereavement
- Challenges with identity and purpose
- Damaging coping mechanisms - addiction, self-harm, damaging eating behaviours

I offer a free 15-minute telephone or online video consultation for a brief discussion about what you would like support with, and to answer any questions you might have.

Beginning counselling can feel like a big step and I appreciate it is important for you to feel as comfortable about the process as possible.

My Experience:
I discovered my passion for the area of mental health when I completed my degree in Applied Psychology. I subsequently trained as an Integrative Counsellor by completing an Advanced Diploma in Counselling. I am also a Mental Health First Aider.

I have experience of working with people who have severe and enduring mental illness and substance abuse issues. I have undertaken additional training in the area of anxiety disorders and CBT.

I am a registered and accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). This means I have met the NCPS high quality standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner, and practice in accordance with the guidelines and code of ethics of the NCPS.

My work is fully insured and professionally supervised.
