When you are a busy person it can feel difficult to fit in one more thing, but continuing to "push through" can be counterproductive, leading to high blood pressure and burnout. Engaging with a counsellor can help you to create space to process the past, find some calm in the here and now and learn coping techniques for the future.
I work face-to-face from offices in Lisburn, County Antrim. My therapy room is located a short distance from the motorway, making it easy to access from the greater Belfast area. I also offer online therapy, saving you the time and costs involved with travelling to sessions. I have flexible appointment times including early morning, afternoon and evening slots to fit around your current commitments.
I am a fully qualified integrative therapist/counsellor, so I blend a range of approaches (person-centred, CBT and psychodynamic) to offer therapy that helps to get the best results for you. I am registered with the BACP and the NCPS.
How do you know if I'm the right counsellor for you?
It is so important that the counsellor you pick is someone you feel comfortable with. It can be tricky to judge this, so let me tell you a bit about myself.
I have been a busy mum for the last 14 years and have juggled motherhood alongside working in a fast-paced setting for 12 of those years. I have also volunteered as a foster carer, which has brought a wealth of experience and understanding.
I provide counselling to those of all faiths and none. I have been through my own journey with the church and appreciate that people can feel judged or rejected by it. It is crucial to me that my clients experience a non-judgemental, warm and welcoming space. I do not bring religion into the room unless the client does.
I know how daunting speaking to a counsellor can feel, but I also know that once I got over my initial nerves I found counselling really helped to get me “unstuck” from the place that I was in. I want to offer that to you too.
This passion for mental health started with my own personal experiences but grew during my training as a foster carer. I found it amazing that there is so much knowledge about how people work and wellbeing, but most of us will never be taught it.
Knowledge is power and I want to give you understanding and tools that you can use today and long after our time together is over.
I believe that “people make sense”. Everyone has their own unique experiences, values and strengths. I am committed to valuing your story.
I want to help you to find your voice and to build your self-esteem so that you can make decisions that are authentically “you”.
