I'm a neurodivergent counsellor working with adults and young people aged 16+. I offer integrative counselling and rewind trauma therapy online and in Launceston, Cornwall. Weekly, fortnightly and one-off sessions are available.
I am LGBTQIA+, home education and neurodivergent-affirming. People in all of these groups can find themselves misunderstood by counsellors and other professionals who don't understand their identity. I aim to provide a safe space and to affirm your lived experience.
Some of my clients are exploring their identity and processing their past after realising their neurodivergent or LGBTQIA+ identity, while others are seeking help with other life issues and want a counsellor who is likely to understand and validate their experiences.
I do not view autism, ADHD or other neurodivergences as disorders. There is nothing wrong with being neurodivergent. Research shows that building a positive neurodivergent identity is crucial for improving self-esteem.
As an integrative counsellor I draw on different techniques depending on your needs, preferences and aims. What works for one person does not necessarily work for another, even if they share a neurotype.
In addition to counselling I also provide Rewind Trauma Therapy for PTSD which quickly stops flashbacks, nightmares and intrusive thoughts without having to talk about them.
I aim to offer a safe space where you can be yourself. Stimming and unmasking as you feel comfortable are very welcome here.
I offer a free 30-minute online call so you can see if I’m the right person to work with you.
I provide ad hoc consultation around neurodiversity issues for counsellors, therapists, mental health practitioners, education professionals and others. You must also have regular supervision in place if required. I am unable to offer emergency sessions but will endeavour to meet with you as soon as possible when requested.
*Please note, the term Autistic Spectrum Disorders appears on my profile because this is a tick box provided by the NCPS. I consider autism to be a naturally-occurring neurotype, not a disorder, and I work in a neuro-affirming way.
