Our Coaching Register
We launched a Coaching Register after members requested a Register to highlight their additional skills and training in coaching. Many of our members integrate coaching skills into their counselling practice or offer coaching and counselling as separate services.
We recognise that while coaching differs from therapy, coaching and counselling share important elements – for example, the quality of the relationship between practitioner and client and the use of fundamental listening and communication skills. We also know that some clients seek a developmental experience where the focus is on specific change, action and the fulfilment of potential.
The Coaching Register is only available to counsellors and psychotherapists on our main Accredited Register (AR) who have evidenced additional skills and training in coaching. It is not itself part of the Accredited Registers programme; coaching is not generally regarded as a healthcare profession. Clients nevertheless have the reassurance that their chosen practitioner is an accredited counsellor or psychotherapist and has agreed to be bound by our Code of Ethical Practice and Complaints Procedure.
