The APPG on [A Fit and Healthy Childhood](https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm/cmallparty/register/fit-and-healthy-childhood.htm) is made up of MPs and peers from various political parties. APPG allows organisations involved in issues such as mental health, to get involved in discussions and influence politicians.
Our Chief Executive of the National Counselling Society spoke at the launch today and concluded by saying:
"A properly funded and quality-assured counselling service is the only way in which we’ll help children to get well and stay well."
In the UK alone, 1 in 10 children affected by mental health, and up to 70% of these children do not receive the help they need.
The report drawing attention to what was needed to ensure that children's mental health becomes a national priority was welcomed. And as stated by APPG chair Baroness Floella Benjamin the "report shows that there is much more to do."
